Every Indy match now...

I'm actually loving most of the comments and feedback posted in this thread. So many insightful comments that I both agree with, and/or challenge my own opinion on the issue.

I think critics of indy wrestling need to realize that the sport needed to adapt and change to suit the audiences needs. In the past, drawn out matches featuring headlocks, arm bars, suplexs and other ground maneuvers were sufficient for the audience, and provided them with fulfillment. Today though, we live in a world where everything around us is moving quickly. The way we get almost all of our media is fast paced, and when it's drawn out and slow building, we lose interest quickly (i.e. just look at applications like Netflix, Snapchat, Facebook, etc.).

I also find that, these fast paced matches where there are a ton of 'spots' are great at telling a story. Yes, there is no definitive bad/good guy in most cases, but that is an idea developed by the WWE. Think about it, before the WWE started to hold a monopoly over professional wrestling, most matches just had two individuals fighting for the sake of a paycheque. By not making it blatantly obvious who the villain or saviour is, you're pushing your viewer to become an active watcher, and make judgment calls; you are no longer treating them as a child who must be nurtured into having a positive or negative opinion.

Lastly, we should be embracing these matches because they show the amazing athleticism of the performing athletes. Being a professional wrestler no longer means your a big, tall, handsome and strong man, who can lift people over your head. Instead, you let your overall talent talk for you; appearance/strength aren't the #1 priority.

I am against the chair shots to the head though; as they are concussion inducing.
