Every. Single. Time.

Everyone has a Cherokee great grandmother is a running joke in parts of the US south. A lot of US Americans were disproportionately treated when their ancestors came over, this entrenched the notion of lineage. My lineage is Norwegian / Irish / English / Filipino. Had a sit-down talk with some folk from Sweden in Albuquerque a few years back; we discussed a similar trend they saw as this post is discussing. Americans not realizing we are effectively Americans now and the European genitals we fell out of in ages back means relatively little. With that being said, as a younger man in Ireland I learned you can't really order an Irish car bomb in Ireland too easily. Or without some stern ass looks and maybe a few uncouth words. Lessons learned!
