Why *everyone* should be wary of new 'New World'

"But as of June 2019, NW didn't also have quests, raids, or even interesting PvE whatsoever."

Okay, but that was six months ago? And nine months from when the public next gets a proper look at it? Maybe it'll still have insufficient PvE, but there's been plenty of time for a LOT to have changed on that front.

"Fixing the netcode (I can't believe an amazon-built MMO in 2020 can't support more than 100 players fights when 15 years old MMOs could without their gigantic server infrastructure)"

Who said it can't support more than that? Setting territory control battles at 50v50 doesn't mean that's the absolute maximum they can support, it's far more likely that that is a number they feel provides the best experience for all involved.

And even if it is the maximum, it's not a matter of "fixing the netcode". That's the number they've settled on with every bit of optimisation they can squeeze out of the system. The idea that MMO developers just leave "netcode" broken is ridiculous. They want it trimmed and performing well to conserve their own resources, if nothing else.

The one thing I do agree with is that everyone should wait and see how the changes turn out - something the PvP/PK crowd are refusing to do - before deciding whether or not to purchase it. Once the beta starts up we'll all have a much better idea of whether there's enough meat on the bone. Panicking at this point is premature.
