Ex-Homophobes of Reddit, what made you change your views?

When I was growing up, being gay, or sexuality in any way, wasn't something I thought about. No negative or positive, it just wasn't an issue that was on my radar.

In high school, I think I knew that some of my friends were gay, maybe even some adults that I knew too, but it really wasn't an issue that I thought about in any way.

Until I was a young adult, and married a homophobic alt-right christian, and we discovered Rush Limbaugh.

Then I knew that being gay was wrong, and all of the other bullshit that was logicked into us.

I grasped on that ideology for about a minute.

Then I realized that it was stupid to stand against issues that didn't have any affect on me or my life.

I also realized that I want to be the kind of person who can change, and see the world through different points of view. I want to be a person who openly accepts others.

Oh, and my ex has nearly come out of the closet. He's still struggling, but at least he has stopped marrying women. (there is now a string of ex wives)
