Ex Muslims apparently get executed in some places??

Just go to google images and look at the maps you get for apostasy law. In some countries it is execution. In some death penalty is not really carried out but they generally don't care about family or mobs killing apostates, which is highly likely to happen, and it is generally encouraged or celebrated. In some it is jail time. In some it is jail time for "publicly insulting religion". Simply discussing that you believe Islam is false would be considered "publicly insulting religion" because you would be saying mohammed is a false prophet. Basically, keep it to yourself because you're screwed if you get enough attention for what you say.

Converting to Christianity is fine in a few countries, like mine. But disbelief is generally not tolerated in MENA and SEA. It is a bit more relaxed where I'm from as far as apostasy goes, because all you have to really worry about is your own family rather than the govt. But as a local you're not going to be openly irreligious at work or a govt building. It is still an Islamic monarchy, you go to jail for publicly hydrating during ramadan, even chewing gum ffs. Religion cannot be separated from the culture even when the laws aren't as extreme.
