Ex-overweight-people of Reddit, what was the turning point that made you lose the weight?

I was never anywhere as fat as the average puffy scooter-using, Walmart-dwelling American, but I was over 100kg for a while. The turning point was when I realized I couldn't walk properly anymore.

I would get tired very quicly and my tights were so large that the friction between them would very severely irritate my skin. I ended up with very painful red patches that made moving a constant pain. I got used to put a rag between my legs to move without too much pain, but the sweat from walking a bit (even when it was cold out, I was sweating like a bull) made the rag damp after only a few minutes of use. I naturally did my best to avoid moving at all because of it, which made me put on even more weight, and become a shut in. It made me contemplate the future and see myself as a 300kg immobile piece of flesh.

Lost over 40kg since then (90lbs). Since I always slowly put on weight when I'm living normally, I willingly lose 10 or 20lbs every few months to remain at my ideal weight. I'm much more active and full of energy, now !
