My old teacher once asked in history class, if racism is still a big problem in Germany. Most of the class said no, except for the 2 classmates that actually are a different race other than white. We came to the conclusion that people might not realise themselves whenever they're being racist. So I questioned myself, if I have ever been racist to someone without noticing. My late best friend came to my mind that I used to give nicknames. Whenever I called him ling ling or yellow flash (I was pretty young back then) he started laughing so I thought he wouldn't mind me calling him those names. Looking back I deeply regret giving him these names. I realised I might have hurt him or make him feel different from everyone else and he just laughed it off.
