Exactly. All this fuss over the vaccines causing blood clots and yet nothing has been done to alleviate this reaction in commonly used birth control pills.

I have to agree with the whole coercion surrounding the pill. Even if we’re not explicitly coerced, we know that there’s a chance it could happen. I know quite a few women (myself included) who have put off seeking medical treatment in fear of it being pushed so heavily as a first line of treatment in many conditions.

I avoided going to the gp about my acne for years because I was so worried they’d heavily push the pill and only reluctantly give other options. I’m also incredibly anxious about an upcoming endocrinologist appointment regarding a PMDD query, as I’m concerned my reservations about the pill will be dismissed and ignored.

The pill wasn’t even mentioned at my gp appointment for my acne, and I’m hoping that my upcoming endo appointment will go well. But it’s the whole psychological anticipation of having to defend your medical preferences that results in some women avoiding seeking treatment altogether.
