Okay so what's your solution then? Start them on the 8th, the day after classes finish with no break in between? Run them right up until Christmas eve? Abolish reading week and move the week off between classes ending and exams starting? Start classes a week earlier?

Exams are from the 10th to the 22nd for most students, giving 9 weekdays for exams and some even run on Saturdays. Profs have no say in picking exam dates; that's all set by Exams and Timetabling. So you might get lucky and have them evenly spaced, or you might get them all bunched together. You might even be in an evening class like me and have your first final this evening.
