EXCLUSIVE: Darren Lehmann to announce resignation effective immediately; Smith and Warner face year long bans

I reckon a year is a bit harsh, given that it's probably not feasible for either Smith or Warner to hold leadership positions ever again (and, given what they have done to Bancroft, fair enough too). Lehmann's position is untenable. Sure, he only has himself to blame, but it's easy to forget that the start of his tenure was so refreshing. I'm not really sure where and how it all went so wrong.

What really annoys me though it that none of the punishments will be decided on precedent or the gravity of the offence itself, but by money and optics - broadcast rights, gate takings for the home summer, sponsorship, public bloodlust, etc. It would have been better if there were clearer, more consistent and more substantive sanctions from the ICC itself, but...well what else would you really expect.
