Exclusivity For a Glorified DLC?

This "glorified DLC" is just a standard upgraded edition. It's a newer version of the game that came out two years later.

This is a tradition as old as gaming itself. I understand disliking it, and I understand thinking the industry should move forward from it, but I do not at all understand why you think it's "odd", unless you haven't played a JRPG in the last two decades.

It has been the absolute standard in Japan to release a game domestically, and then a year later release a better version for international audiences, and then an even better version back in Japan. Square Enix has done it with FF, KH, etc.

As for why it's exclusive, I guess Nintendo got an exclusivity deal out of squeenix due to the fact they had to wait so fucking long to get the game at all. I'm assuming that's why SE pumped the game full of new features, to make up for the wait. You have to understand DQXI was announced for the Switch before the Switch itself was even announced, and it's only coming out next month.

The original DQXI experience was a very complete and thorough gaming experience for me, so I absolutely disagree with people who say that the vanilla version is now "incomplete" or whatever. This is just a new upgraded version, it's a totally standard thing.
