This expansion will be the first time there are fewer cards in Standard than cards not in Standard.

Learned helplessness is behavior that occurs when the subject endures repeatedly painful or otherwise **aversive stimuli which it is unable to escape from or avoid. After such experiences, the organism often fails to learn or accept “escape” or “avoidance” in new situations where such behavior is likely to be effective. In other words, the organism learned that it is helpless.

This is the foundation of it. Many people Built on the idea as time went on as well. I k kw of it through Don Norman.

Breaking it down, you’ve got 2 tasks.

One is fun and one isn’t.

X is chores

Y is heartstone

You don’t feel rewarded for doing X so you put more mental effort into Y.

Your brain will then prioritize Y.

When you suck at X and don’t even understand why, that can be considered an expression of helplessness. Why am i so BAD! At remembering to take the trash out?

It’s not just a single point about remembering something or not. It’s about you training yourself (Or someone else training you poorly) to think something isn’t important or that you are going to fail at it anyway, so you might as well forget about it and double down on Y ot in this case, hearthstone.
