I have no problem with destination weddings but I've always been slightly confused when people say they're doing it to keep the wedding small. Maybe there's some cultural and familial differences going on but most people I know would have zero problems telling others 'Sorry, we're only having certain close friends/family. It's going to be a small event' for a local wedding, and if second cousin Linda didn't like it then too bad.

It's even more baffling when people throw a destination wedding, invite everyone, and secretly hope that most people will turn it down and that the people they really care about will be the only ones to come. Just invite who you actually want to be there!
