I do think the age limit makes sense as one has generally been alive and around long enough to have a sense of the politics in their area. That's also when people are considered legal adults and can join the military and should absolutely have the right to vote on officials who may or may not send them to war.

The allowing of 17 year olds to vote in primaries makes sense to me because the people they're voting on won't hold office with that vote, it's just teeing them up for the possibility if they win the following November. I can fully agree 17 year olds who'll be 18 in time for election day should be able to have a say in who those folks will be.
