Explosion near U.S. military outpost in northern Syria: U.S. official

Something is certainly rotten in the state of Denmark. But you cannot act with overt military force against Turkey - there's a reason that such an odd-job state was ever admitted into NATO, and it's their complete control of the Bosphorous strait which could effectively cut Russia off from sea operation during the winter months as they have no other warm water ports outside of the Black Sea and, now, their Syrian proxy port.

The question is how much blood do you shed to keep them from committing atrocities (which they will undoubtedly commit, because their dictator is a tyrant) and how will it help western interests. Because there are a whole lot of other malicious actors in the region looking to capitalize on this recent instability, Iran and Saudi Arabia included.

To be clear, I want the Kurds to win. I just don't think Americans should die to help them do so.
