I just watched it again bc they are pulling it off Netflix in a few days. I’m a big Kubrick fan and it’s pretty drab given how meticulous The Shining and 2001 are, unless I’ve totally missed something.
Couple of details I noticed: I know Greenwich village pretty well. Amazing the detail of that set.
The costume shop being called Rainbow. In magic/occult circles - a rainbow bridge is something you cross back and forth to go to the other side. Pretty sure this is intentional.
In the last scene in the toy store - the last toy they walk past is called a magic circle. Once again, a reference to the occult.
Again, shocked how trite much of dialog is for being a Kubrick. Maybe he was tired. For how long of a shoot this was and how much went into the sets…
