Ezra Klein v. Sam Harris

people like Sam Harris or Jordan Peterson continually like to vomit out this pseudoscience bs that gives white people (white men specifically) the freedom to believe in black inferiority and that any disparity between the races (or any other marginalized group for that matter) is just a matter of genetics not the hundreds of years of explicit abuse.

I haven't listened the podcast yet so I unfortunately can't participate in this discussion. But I just want to say one thing about this part in the OP.

I don't think we should lump together someone like Sam Harris with Jordan Peterson. Because Jordan Peterson (for the most part), does do EXACTLY what you're accusing him of here. He's very insidious.

In fact, the interesting thing about Peterson is how far he goes out of his way to never really mention "race" at all. But if you read between the lines there, it's pretty clear where his alignment is on that issue. There's a reason why so many people on the "alt-right" and white supremacy movements are big fans of Peterson. And notice how Peterson is ENTIRELY silent about criticisms of Donald Trump but rails against the "identity politics" of Hillary Clinton.

Sam Harris is a lot more complicated than that. (Peterson and Harris actually did a podcast together and it was a trainwreck the first time around.) It's not a defense of Harris' problematic views, because I think his absolute softball interview with Charles Murray was so so so terrible, but I think it's important to make a distinction between people like him and Jordan Peterson.
