The bad part about my firework analogy is fireworks also aren't sporting. In the US we have things like 3 gun competitions, target shoots, hunting of various animals. You wouldnt chuck fire crackers in competition. But I can see where the debate would come into play.

IIRC you can get fun guns in Germany but you need a reason. So if you are running 3 gun in Germany you can get a shotgun, pistol and rifle. If you are just going to.compete in Glock target shoots you can get Glocks. Or if hunting is your reason you can get a shotgun.

I hope you have a good time! I've brought lots of people out who didn't like guns at all, and they all enjoyed it and had a different perspective. It isn't everyone's cup of tea though for sure.

But yeha mainly just a fun hobby.

Not that we don't have crazy people who wants Civil War 2: Electric Boogaloo who stack 50 AR platform rifles for the coming race war /s . They are a terrible representation of American gun culture.
