F**k that Dahmer series. It has ruined my life.

I think some people may have gotten the wrong idea from my comment and others who recommended avoiding content like the show about Dahmer. I did not mean to imply that this is not a viable option for exposure therapy, but coming from my therapist who is an OCD specialist himself, sometimes you’re not in the right state to begin certain exposures. Not only that, but that kind of content is triggering for a lot of people even without OCD. All in all, it’s perfectly valid to avoid watching shows/movies that send you down a rabbit hole of despair & anxiety if you are not in the right state to be able to cope with an exposure of that level. OCD recovery is not a clear cut experience, and it is different for everyone. Exposure therapy is a fantastic tool, if not the best tool, for OCD, but it must be used wisely and with the correct amount of caution.
