I hate the exploitation but I love the inspiration. I am a collector as well, and when I watch a show like that I feel so inspired to diy a home makeover. It feels goddamn good, too. Helps that people usually want my stuff bc it’s generally cute girl clothes ha. The thing is—-what makes it terrifying for people to part with their collections is a very high level of insecurity. Like maybe they could sell it, in the future, if worse comes to worst. It’s a form of ocd and I understand it bc I’m in it and it sucks. It’s a deeply ingrained form of perfectionism—no waste—and unfortunately the outcome is more waste, and havoc on one’s mental health via MESS
