I (F21) became infatuated with a guy (M27) and might have been “delusional” around him

Yeah I’m pretty sure it was me being clingy/“delusional”.

I approached him first. At first we were just discussing political/social issues, before I started getting more personal. I’m the type of person to wear my heart on my sleeve, so I wasn’t holding anything back.

He did try and slow down my questioning him and me opening up to him.

He told me he wasn’t too comfortable with my age and the only reason he shared some stuff with me was because our families know each other.

Then we kept talking and he started asking me a couple personal questions, like if I was happy in life, and that he felt lost etc. I felt like I might have read too much into that, and into our discussions in general.

Looking back, he definitely was trying to drop hints that he wasn’t interested, I don’t know why I couldn’t see them or thought he was giving mixed signals.

I guess I feel bad because he had to be super blunt for me to realize that he really wasn’t interested and to get me to back off. I guess I’m taking it hardly because this is my first rejection and the humiliation stings, more-so because I shared so much with him and we know people in common...
