Faang or hedge fund.

Back then and comparison today. There wasn't many people who have a bachelor degree in cs and it wasn't that popular during the time. Specially cheap computers were ridiculous expensive to own.

Many colleges didn't have a cs in their program. The more years goes by, many colleges realized that they're can make money off on cs by teaching some legacy coding style or hire random people from foreign countries who have a so called "phd in Computer Science". I'm talking to you India btw... There are many bad schools teach out of date cs materials and qcrewing kids future. Stup!d when a school focused on too much console apps.

The school that I went to, most of the cs professors got fired due to their failing rate and bad teaching. Most of them were Indians or Asians.

My first cs professor was a india professor who didn't understand Java at all and she got fired. After that, my school was focused on getting citizens than foreigners.

Many people today who have a cs degree have a hard time finding a job even like Eric Barone who can't find a job with a cs degree. He made Stardew Valley. That telling something.
