Fabián Balbuena straight red card against Chelsea 81'

I think there are two things that make this divisive:

1) Was it a natural ‘follow through’? For me, the natural follow through on the kick is up. The ‘slide through’ with the foot coming down onto Chilwell is a separate thing. I think some people are lumping it all in together and saying it looks natural. I don’t agree but I think that’s why some people are saying it’s a ‘natural follow through’. Same words, different meaning.

2) Anyone who plays has had studs go into their leg like that before, and it’s never given (unless it’s way, way nastier). So people think that must be ‘right’. I disagree. But if you play I can see how you’d imagine that should be part of the game, because in practice, for the likes of us, we’re used to refs seeing it once from 30 yards away and being unable to make a call, so letting it go.
