Incorrect. In Herbert's case it was his son, and a completely unrelated other author. You're also totally ignoring all the additional material produced based off their source materials (e.g., the movies of both franchise) that didn't involve the original authors directly.

Not allowing this story to be completed is a massive middle finger to all the fans that supported and enriched him.

You're arguing about something different than I am - you're saying he's entitled to do that. I'm commenting on his motivations for doing that.
