I gotta say, this is one of the dumber instances of internet outrage I've seen lately. I'll call bullshit on my "own side" when I see it.
First of all so many folks were spinning this as Swalwell "threatening gun owners with nukes" with that post. Yet someone saying that gun control would lead to a civil war isn't a threat? Cmon.
Swalwell was clearly making the argument that insurgents armed with small arms wouldn't be a match for a modern military force, whose firepower disparity goes all the way up to nuclear weapons.
I happen to disagree with that argument, but how many of us engaged in these debates about the practicality of armed insurgency against a first-world military before? Probably most of us. Playing armchair general about theoretical conflicts doesn't really represent any sort of "threat".
