The fact that I'm always taken by surprise when I discover that another Redditor is female (by her use of pronouns, etc.) makes me realize I for some reason have an internal false impression that all Redditors are men. Which is especially weird because I'm female.

I get that you're kidding and all, but honestly stuff like that 4chan post is probably most of the reasons women don't always clarify if they're female online - because when we do it comes with assumptions like that from dudes who only see us as useless vapid fuckholes who can be mocked or put on a pedestal according to mood or opinion. It's grating as hell when you make complaint about this sort of thing as a woman and all you get is bombarded with stuff like 'reee!' And 'found the feminist! Lol triggered' but just because of the handful of annoying 'kill all men' crowd that goes around, it's completely justifiable for guys to get mad, buy into long standing misogynistic ideas about the entire female gender and spread their anti women sentiment over any and every sub. Neither gender stereotypes are okay but on the Internet, one is seen as more acceptable than the other. I am super tired of it. I just want to have normal conversations with people online where gender can be mentioned but doesn't change the tone of the conversation/isn't a big deal because women are not getting accused of wanting male attention just by clarifying they're not one.
