Failed state.

I've been through the wringer that is the healthcare system, early in my life. I never financially recovered. It took years to pay off our debts, and that set us back forever. Changed our lives and our children's lives for the worse, and that was with insurance.

Now, we still pay so much for health insurance just in case we break an arm or have a heart attack, that we won't lose our home, but simultaneously the cost is so high for insurance that we simply cannot afford checkups or risk getting sucked into it again for age related health issues. In short, we can't afford actual healthcare because health insurance.

I'd be the same. More so, I'd simply not go. Because of that experience early in life, and because of my age now, I know that I simply don't have the time to rebuild again. I'd just stay home, and that is what I do, despite healthcare needs right now.
