Family of man killed in hit-and-run crash wants teen suspect tried as adult

I know this might not be a popular sentiment but I’m firmly against charging anyone on through the age of 18 as an adult kids in general even teenagers have an under developed cerebral cortex and if we count them at children’s in one aspect of society we can count them as children and all aspects of society even criminal punishment.

Kids make really stupid decisions in general and they are going through the tutorial of Life right now that is childhood not all kids do horrible things but the ones that do might not fully comprehend the very Serious nature of their actions so in general I really don’t think we should rTRIAL children as adults However I didn’t see the exact age of the driver I’m assuming they are around 16 if they have a license in general this is a tragic event and I feel so bad for the family but I don’t know if we should in general tried children as adults just because that kind of undermined the validity of the juvenile system.

I remember a few years ago prosecutor tried to try an eight year old as an adult claiming that they understood the full ramifications of their actions when the kid picked up their parents gun and accidentally shot his siblings one use of trying a child as adults kind of Cascades into another so while they’re separate instances it does have kind of a domino effect in the criminal justice system but trying to trade children younger and younger as adults even though they may not fully comprehend the scope or the gravity of the action with a crime to which they are accused I know that’s an unpopular opinion but just in general I don’t think it’s a good idea.

Again what happened to that poor man is a tragedy and his family must be grieving terribly I feel so bad for them so I don’t know the full circumstances again this is justMy opinion in general on trying juveniles as adults in the criminal justice system not on this particular case if this particular person accused of a crime is like a few months from their 18th birthday that could be a completely different thing then if they’re like between the ages of 16 and 15 or something
