Family-unfriendly fields and professions...

I already had my baby, but I lurk here since this community is so supportive.

I work as a private nanny, and have done so for 10 years. I love my job, and I've been doing it for so long that I only take on families who pay me on the high end of the spectrum. Mainly, people are so damn confused about, is that I don't bring my child to work with me.

But why? How could you not bring your child to your high paying job? Oh that's right, because it is my JOB.

Then it's "oh they won't let you bring your child with you?" No. I choose not to bring my child with me. Apparently, minds blown.

"Oh, so the grandparents watch him?" No. I put him in daycare. Double minds blown.

I've always been a believer that personal life and work life should be separate. The amount of snooty SAHMs I've encountered have made me consider a job change and to use my degree, but I love what I do. I don't want to make a job change because some other people don't approve of my choice to put my child in daycare and not bring my child with me.
