I consider them the complete edition. Except for gen 5 which did it sort of right with a sequel that made sense and allowed you to capture the legendary you might have missed out on.

So far, until I read some spoilers pertaining to Ultra SM it just seems like a mistake. Don't get me wrong, it's going to sell well because it's Pokémon, but they haven't done anything impressive with this generation. Six was garbage in my opinion, and without a third version it just will be remembered as that stepchild that introduced the Fairy-type (Mega forms too, but they didn't return in SM). SM added a quality amount of new Pokémon, but dragged itself down with the handholding and trying to get the Yokai Watch fans with a Pokedex possessed by a ghost-type Pokémon. I just hope the Switch game is not a main entry. I'm getting kind of bored with it. I'd like another Gale of Darkness. Something with an actual narrative and a main character with personality rather than an avatar who doesn't have a real opinion.
