No, but it’s far closer to LACs than its peer unis due to its liberal arts curriculum and undergrad focus.
The Economist ranked Dartmouth as #443 and Princeton at #773. Do you believe that ranking? I don’t. Don’t just go by rankings. Also on the list you gave, Princeton is #48, and Dart isn’t in the top 50. Hardly that much of a difference, considering that Dartmouth is also smaller than Princeton and has fewer grad programs.
According to what you said, nobody should go to a LAC if they want to pursue academia.
I’m not saying Dartmouth is better than X, my point is that it’s certainly not a bad undergraduate college for academia. Thats also because your graduate program determines your academic career far more. That’s when you conduct the most meaningful and important research.
