Fashionistas of Color: What's been your shopping experience?

So full disclosure, I'm whiter than milk. But my big is a woman of colour, and she and I have shopped a few times. Most recently we went to a Sephora where an employee very obviously was following her. The employee kinda tried to look like they were tidying up areas, but it was literally in the same path as my big and they very clearly kept looking up at her while she just browsed like a normal person. I find it worth noting that this stopped when I finally started walking with her throughout the store, and also that I was the one constantly picking up products and looking at them since I know nothing about makeup/skincare (which my saint of a big helped explain as we went). She on the other hand grabbed only a few things that she bought right after. Not sure if this really is what you're looking for, but we've both noticed a huge difference in how employees follow her shopping alone compared to when we're together. It gets even bigger if she looks more "black" that day. So basically they followed a few steps behind her until I came along.
