I didn't downvote you but I don't think you did a good job at explaining the difference between motivation and discipline at all and I do agree with OP that without sufficient motivation, you will have trouble pushing yourself.

You are mixing up different notions IMO. Motivation isn't a fleeting state of mind; it's not "what am I feeling like doing at this moment?". Just because you don't feel like doing anything some days doesn't mean you don't have a motivation to learn a language on those days. Motivation is the reason you are forcing yourself to do your language work on days when you don't feel like it (general you obviously). Discipline is the means and I do agree you need some as well.
