I was fat shamed because I cook and bake well. Should I be offended or amused?

I wasn't there, so I don't know how it was said etc, but the "pity the.." quote could be read as he saying your soup was delicious, and anyone you marry will find it hard to resist. And I wouldn't take it personally if she doesn't accept your offers of cake - you said yourself that she's "skinny", it could simply be she doesn't want the extra calories (something I'm sure many of us loseit visitors could empathise with).

I guess what I'm saying is, is it possible you've taken issue with her, rather than the other way around?

In any case my advice would be to stop viewing things as a competition, or as digs, and just get on with doing your stuff, and let her get on with hers.
