I somehow believe in fate/destiny and the people around me are huge believers.

When I broke up with my first boyfriend years ago, I started hanging out more with a new guy I had met. We were in his dorm room and there was a kind of sexual tension in the air and I was sure we were going to kiss.

Then my phone rang and it was my ex calling out of the blue after six months, asking to get back together. And my moment with the guy was lost.

I did get back with the shitty ex only to dump him again weeks later (back when I believed people when they swore they would change). And then some years later I reconnected with the other guy when I visited his city, we held hands and walked but went our separate ways after that night and drifted apart.

I think another Redditor got it right when they said it’s more like a case of “what’s not meant to be yours will always get away.”
