Hey guys, hope you can help me know my legal rites in this situation. My friend recently was forced into rehab by his father that claimed his son stole a bunch of money from the family business. The business is a law firm and my friend is working with his dad as an attorney. Just not sure if he has ownership. Firms with names like Allen & Allen. My friend would be lets say the second Allen. Dad claims his son stole a bunch of money from the business and if he didn't go to rehab he would call the cops on him. If this is true, I am all for him to go to rehab. Not sure how accurate some of this information is that I have been told. Seems suspicious all that money was stolen for so long from a business with the father just recently finding out. So my problem, my friend has transferred into my bank about 60k throughout a year period. My friend sent me the money to get him something for that value. Instead of driving the money over we save a trip by bank transfers. As an attorney I know he makes a bunch of money so I never questioned the amounts. The father called me harassing me that he wants all 60k back and he will come after me for it. He claims all the money he sent me was used for drugs with no proof. I told him not a dollar of that went into my pocket and it was decisions your son made to spend the money. I have -45 in my account and told him I would never condone stealing and was also lied to if infarct the money was stolen. He did not care about logic or reason and said he expects to be paid all 60k in full which is ridiculous as I am broke and did nothing wrong. Can he legally come after me and get the 60k back which was never money I got to keep, as my bank statement would show him transferring the money and I withdrawing it within the hours every time for a purchase that would go directly back to him. His father is a big time attorney so i am dam nervous not knowing if he can somehow fuck my life over instead of fathering his son and not blaming everyone but his son.
