I F'ed up on my trip to China, how can I recover
Parents think I was coming over to discuss marriage. I was not under this impression. I brought about $100 dollar gift, they think it is too little.
Her mom likes this over the counter heart supplement/liquid from Costco. She wanted me to bring 5, I could only carry 3 in my luggage
I asked the girl how much I should bring when coming over, I got no answer from her. I told her I was going to bring 1k USD. She said I should ask my parents. My parents, who, never been to China, said 1.5K. I brought 2K. Apparently I missed the part that it wasn't enough.
Originally I asked if I could stay at their place and they agreed. So I didn't plan on hotel costs. When I came, they put me in hotel and were upset that I didn't pay for it
Went out with parents and I offered to treat them several times and did the whole song and dance going back and forth. They said that while I was there, they would treat me and while their daughter was in the US, I had taken care of her and paid for everything. So apparently, they upset that I didn't pay at all
Made a comment on how we should invite her friends over to go out, not realizing that it is custom to pay for all their expenses. I ended up paying for the meals but I didn't pay for the tickets
