I feel disheartened by the divisive politics on Reddit these days, so I've made a list of opinions I think we can all agree on.

The only issue I take with the list is with the George Floyd case. It doesn't matter whether most people, and I'm not sure thats true, feel he was murdered because it isn't the place of the public to make that determination. This court of public opinion and lack of respect for due process mindset that people have gotten into is a tremendous problem. People feel like they should get what they want and when they don't we end up with destruction. It's toxic.

The George Floyd case isn't cut and dry like many are saying it is. No one could even wait for the autopsy and toxicology reports. The circumstances are odd. Why did George fall originally? Why was he resisting when they asked him to get out of the vehicle. Why was his body hurting? Were there any drugs in his system that could have resulted in cardiac arrest? He wasn't asphyxiated, according to the information available. He was able to breath, otherwise he couldn't have been talking the entire time. So we don't know if the officers actions lead to his death and to conclude otherwise is making a decision ignorantly.

Floyd had an extensive criminal record, including violent crime. He had a history of questionable decisions and anti social behavior. It is perfectly within the realm of reality that he had drugs on him, swallowed them to prevent violating his parole, he was a felon, and that it ultimately led to his death. It fits the available evidence better than he was choked to death by a knee on his neck.

Either way, an investigation is necessary and is happening. The officer was arrested and fired. The process is in motion. The outrage from the public may be real, but that doesn't mean it isn't baseless or based on misinformation and false narratives that have been being pushed by media and politicians since about 2014. There has been a deliberate effort to frame police use of lethal force as a much bigger problem than it is. And we are seeing the results of that more and more.
