I feel like Kids is probably a good and important movie

That’s crazy. Saw this in prob 96 and felt the same way. Interesting you felt the same 10 years later. Slightly different time but not by much. Idk for 96/97 it was identical to the bullshit we were living, down to the flop houses. Casual hookups. Skating and fights. Complete freedom to an unhealthy degree as a child that thinks it’s an adult. No one gave a fuck about any of us, we had our own fucked up family, and took issues into our own hands. Police or authority wasn’t allowed. I wonder if kids like that are still there today. Probably, maybes it’s always been that way. But this movie felt so personal and changed my perspective on sex. It was like a warning shot fired out over our whole community. HIV is real and back then would kill you. As far as an important movie goes as op suggested it’s hard to think of one that affected me so deeply
