I feel like I have no true passion that translates to the professional world and its really starting to bring me down... Has anyone been on the same boat?

Wow you sound exactly like me 8 years ago. When I finished school, my only real passions were music, sport and magic tricks which I learned from YouTube. I didn't consider myself particularly musically gifted either. I decided to go to university and study computer science, and I found a decent job in IT with plenty of room to grow within the company.

After 2 years of a CompSci Bachelor degree and countless hours spent working in the IT industry, I felt directionless and bored. I stumbled across this video, a snippet from an Alan Watts lecture, and it blew my mind apart. That very day, I quit my university degree and applied to a music college. 2 weeks later I moved interstate and began studying music at a private college. I practiced my ass off, and the following year I was accepted into a prestigious Conservatorium of Music where I completed a bachelor of music performance.

Fast forward 5 years, I am now a professional musician who makes a living playing and producing music. I earn more than enough to live a comfortable and happy life, and I feel as though I never work. My job is truly my hobby and I love every day of my life. I have had the opportunity travel the world on various tours and jobs. My most recent was a contract on a cruise ship sailing around the caribbean where I met my wife to be, a beautiful singer. It would have been so easy for me to stick with my stable career in computer science, but I would not have been truly happy.

Your life is now, don't waste it doing something that doesn't make you happy. Follow your instincts and the money will follow. Simply ask the question "what would I do if money were no object?", then do it.
