I feel very alone

Hi. I was in a very similar situation. Supposed to graduate in 2019, pero after completing all of my experiments, tinamad na ako magsulat and decided na mag-pause muna and mag-work for at most a year before ko isulat thesis ko. But then the pandemic hit and I was stuck with my job just to make ends meet, kasi ang dami talagang nangyari and my finances took a hit.

Come end of 2021, the pandemic restrictions were slowly easing out, so I quit my job and decided to finally finish my thesis. Umalis ako sa bahay last March to concentrate with writing, pero I was not able to do any writing until the end of July. Five months akong nagkulong sa boarding house. Everything went downhill then. There were days na wala akong tulog; there were days na almost 24 hours akong tulog. There were days na di ako kumakain; there were days na masukasuka na ako sa kabusugan. Bigla-bigla nalang akong umiiyak that time, and there were worse moments na nahihirapan na akong huminga. I knew I needed help.

A friend suggested I contact PsycServ, and I did, because sobrang takot na ako and desperate. More or less two weeks din before nag-reach out ang PsycServ sa akin. I started with therapy, and it was the best thing that happened to me this year. Ang dami kong na-learn about myself. Part of it is my avoidance of seeking and accepting help from others.

Slowly, I reached out to old friends close to me and arranged to meet with them kahit buong pagkatao ko sumisigaw ng no(!!!). Hahaha. It worked for the best, though. A friend volunteered to become my accountability partner, and multiple times everyday, walang palya, nag-fofollow up siya kung ano na ang ginagawa ko and kung ano na mga natapos ko sa timeline na ginawa niya for me to finish writing my thesis on time para mahabol ang deadline.

And I did it. After five(!!!) years, I graduated last midyear 2022. :)

So, to summarize, ask for help. Sometimes, it's beyond our capacity to get our lives in order, and there is no shame in that. Reconnect with friends who you know can be of help, and contact your adviser if you have concerns or just to let him/her know of your plans.

I wish you the best, OP! Rooting for you!
