Feeling discouraged about learning web development at a late age.

I'm 31. I did a bootcamp and got a contract that pays six figures about 3 months after I graduated. No, it's not in the bay area.

There's a lot of fake pessimism in this sub. Lots of people whining because they don't work hard and think spamming 300 form letters counts as 'looking for a job'. Then there's senior guys here who would rather spend their time discouraging newcomers than learning new tech.

Lots of companies would prefer to hire someone in their 30s for all the usual reasons - kids suck at time management, office politics, setting expectations, being responsible and dependable, etc. I know I did when I was that age.

You're fine. The only thing you need in this industry is passion. If you don't like this stuff, you will hate your life and fail. If you love it, you will do very well. The market is desperate for good developers.
