Feeling like we failed. Just venting.

You didn’t fail, but can see why you feel as if you did. I’m so sorry you’re going through this and am sending you love and a virtual shoulder.

My sis and I always talk about how it’s unfortunate that when kids turn out great, the parents are always credited. When they turn out terrible, the parents are blamed. You guide them and try to teach them right from wrong, but it’s ultimately their decision and we all have free will.

I read “19 Minutes” by Jodi Picoult YEARS ago, about a young man who committed a school shooting after being bullied. It’s been years since I read it so I don’t remember everything

The parents were blamed even though they tried their best to be loving parents. It made me realize that the people we love and care for can do heinous things. Or they can do amazing things in spite of their upbringing.

It is not your fault and you did right by calling the police and preventing him from harming anyone. You are to be credited for that.
