Feeling Uncomfortable With Dog Rescues

Same. I had a small fenced patio (townhouse) for a 70 lb dog. Since then, we’ve moved and my dog’s sitter works at the shelter and I’m friends with several people that volunteer/are on boards of rescues so I expect my next time will be even easier. A few things I’ve “heard” about from other states is having a referral from a vet or dog sitter really helps grease the wheels and cut a lot of red tape. We recently had a very sad story where a 40 year old man was struck and killed while walking his dogs (one dog was also killed). His English teacher from freaking middle school heard and drove down to where the other dog was and got in line to adopt (several people showed up for the 8 year old dog given the story). She was selected because she brought her dog sitter!
