Ive just been reminded that a year ago, an askreddit thread inadvertently helped me find how my mom passed away. It was a thread on how to find out if your state owes you money, which made me excited to see what I could get back. Found out I had a small savings account with around $400 that my mom setup for my sister and I with WaMu from back in the. However, she was listed as part of the owner of the account and since she is deceased, I needed to provide a death certificate before being eligible retrieve this amount. I haven’t paid for the service to get the certificate but I decided to look online at the county where I used to live for their records. It was a lot different than what I was lead to believe all these years. My sister and I are very reserved people in our relationships. We can’t be very expressive of how we feel so we just lie to ourselves and others that everything will be okay. Also if I get that money, I will keep it because my sister gets free $200 gaming keyboards from her work.
