In Australia it’s actually been shown that the parents interests are taken into consideration too much. As someone who has worked in family law I believe that this stereotype that men are fucked over by family courts is more harmful to men than beneficial. This is as most custody arrangements aren’t done through a judge deciding it’s through negotiation and agreements between the parents. If men feel as though they don’t come to the table with equal bargaining power or that a judge will side with the female anyway they might be more willing to take less custody of the child. The courts are also super hesitant to not give a parent at least 50% custody of a child even if there is previous DV involved.
