I felt AC:NH got boring really fast. Is this just me?

Yeah it's because at some point the definition of game got really fuzzy and now we don't have a word that means game.

Before everything was digital it was really clear. We had chess, we had cards, we had sports... All clearly games. They have rules, you can win, you can lose, they end.

We had other entertainment, books, movies, gardening, slides, swings. All clearly NOT games.

Even in the early days of video games the lines were clear. But as time went on people made forms of digital entertainment where you can't win or lose there isn't a puzzle to solve, there's just... The thing you are doing. So these days we have lumped all interactive digital entertainment into a bucket and called it all games, so it's hard to have conversations about it because the language is broken.
