Female doctors have a harder time with nurses? What is your experience?

I’m not a doctor but a female radiographer and I can honestly say I think it works both ways. I’ve noticed male doctors tend to be nicer and even more open to criticism when I’ve had to call and discuss requests with them. On the other hand, my worst experiences have been with female doctors. Same with my own colleagues, my male colleagues seem to prefer the female doctors, whereas the male doctors seem to be nicer and easier to have discussions with towards the women. One that really sticks out in my head was a female surgeon screaming at me to go distal in a case, when I did she screamed about how imcompetent I was and did I even know medical terminology, literally ripping me a new one in front of the whole theatre team, i said I had in fact listened to her instructions, it must’ve then clicked with her she actually meant proximal, she didn’t apologise just carried on with the case making snappy arsey demands.

I went downstairs had a moan and my male colleague couldn’t believe she’d been that horrible to me.
