Female Grappler feeling like the outsider

As a fellow woman in this sport, you have to be assertive. Most guys (and a lot of women too) are going to wait for you to enthusiastically ask to roll/drill until they get to know you better.

I spent the first few months in your shoes, riddled with self doubt about whether or not someone liked me as a training partner when in reality they just didn't want to be in a position to play a pretty aggressive close contact sport with someone who seemed uncomfortable.

I know it sucks if you're more introverted and I'm super grateful for the teammates who did take the time to push me out of comfort zone. I promise it's worth it in the end.

With that being said, it could be the culture in your gym and it's always a good idea to visit other schools in case there's a better fit for you out there.
