Feminist calls for boycott of accused rapist in Portland tech scene

I say we do not let him speak! Hell, we even fire him! Then, we take his kids (if he has any), and ruin his life as much as we can. Then, we also set him on fire.

If it turns out he was innocent? We all know he wasn't, right? Because every rape accusation ever is true, so there's no point in arguing against not convicting him socially.

If it turns out he was guilty? See, we told you so. Rape accusations are always true.

But to answer your post directly, you'll never find a link between the way we treat rape and the way we treat other crimes, because there is none.

Rape is treated much differently. Rape is a crime for which you are guilty regardless of what the jury says. Rape is a crime for which if a judge doesn't punish you, society will. In fact, odds are, by the time it goes to trial, if it ever goes to trial, you've already been punished by society. Fired, your family steps away in shame, and with your face all over the news nobody will even think about hiring you. If you have any girlfriend or wife, they too will leave you. And will take the kids, if there are any.

Rape is the only crime for which there are less rights to the accused. Preponderance of evidence being on the line, the line between rape and not-rape being blurred and shifted towards rape by the minute. Literally anything can be considered rape by today's standards, when viewed through a different lens.

And that is just the way society behaves. I honestly blame Feminism for this. Feminism played a crucial role in this, going about "rape culture" and how "1 in 4 women will be raped", sometimes switching to "1 in 3", or "1 in 5". And no, I'm not saying "all feminists" or whatever, but in general, this was what the headlines were, this is what the press printed, and this is what was being shouted everywhere. And it still is. And the people behind it were all people who identified as Feminists and whom the Feminist movement in general supported.

So yeah, after being touted that all men are rapists who get away with their daily rapes, is anyone surprised? Lynch mobs were called for, and that's what we have now. Lynch mobs led by the media. People are fired, people are attacked, separated from their friends and family, divorced, and branded rapists forever. We didn't care about defending their rights, so now they have none.

What she's trying to do is pandering to her own audience. What the Feminists who support her want to hear is how she's so opposed to rape culture or whatever her new talking points are.
